Location, Location, Location Differs Greatly According to Who You Speak With!
My definition of a great location might be totally different according to your definition because you and I are not alike. If I was sixty years old and you were thirty-five years old, our "idea" of location would vary greatly because of our needs at our certain stages of life.
Finding the right neighborhood for you is important because a neighborhood should grow with you and not away from you. For example, let's say you love the homes on a certain block but find out by watching the activity in the neighborhood that most of the home owners are in their "golden years" and have no children. You and your significant other are in your mid-thirties with three kiddos and another one on the way. You don't notice any swingsets/playsets in any of the backyards, and there's not a minivan in site. Just by observation, you can tell that this is not the place for you and your family.
Most folks who are close to buying a home view neighborhood as one of the most important factors in selecting their home. Here are the top ten factors influencing where buyers buy!
Health facilities - is the hospital in the next town a half an hour away or within minutes.
Public transportation - the Cedar Rapids area has one of the best!
Planned communities - Marion, Hiawatha, and Cedar Rapids have an abundance of these wonderful communities.
Shopping - Malls, grocery, specialty shops are plentiful!
Proximity to friends/family - Linn County communities are so close together, this is an easy one!
Proximity to jobs/schools - once again, Cedar Rapids isn't that big and commute time is virtually non-existent.
School Districts - award winning Cedar Rapids, College Community, Linn-Mar, Marion school districts rule!
Parks and recreation - an abundance of parks, recreational activities year round for everyone.
Entertainment - thriving arts venues downtown and in Iowa City.
Proximity to airport - twelve minutes from where I'm at; any questions?
